You'd think there's nothing of note going on over here if all you-all did was read our blog. But I'm sure you keep up on our local headlines. If not, we can send you a Weekly Mailer. That's the weekly wrap of all the news that isn't around here. Don't forget the opinion page(s). Small town folks have a lot to say!
So, I guess that's it for this post. See you next time.
Right. Since I've started I might as well finish it off.
Let's see...
News of note:
My wife is pregnant (still). We had a listen-to-the-heartbeat appointment but little tyke wouldn't sit still. It was a little disconcerting when the nurse couldn't find a heartbeat but that meant that we got a sneak preview of the bugger. They brought in a portable ultrasound machine and, sure enough, there was a little heart ripping along, surrounded by flailing limbs! Seriously- on its back waving its arms and legs in the embryonic fluid. And Shauna wonders why her stomach's all fluttery and queasy. Another doc visit at the end of the month. We'll schedule a real ultrasound then. Stay tuned. A report on the geography of the nether regions forthcoming! Harvest is done! That almost made headlines in front of the pregnancy report! Had some time on the tractor doing fall ground work in preparation for spring. But, I got rescued from the glass cube and am now keeping track of cellars, pleading with the potatoes to not rot. If you get black fries don't gripe at me.
The wind that makes our neighborhood winters infamous is in full swing today. Instead of drooping between poles, the power lines were smartly saluting the east. Had to make the rounds to check for buildings or pieces of buildings that might be headed for Wyoming. Sure enough, part of a roof was flapping in the breeze, exposing its underparts to the world. Took two of us to wrestle it down, then lay on it and screw it back into place.
Had the workers here beginning of last week, then Corey, Danica and Tabor for the weekend. Good fun, good times. More company next week. Some holiday or something.
And, going back in time- we had a great little autumn party here. Filled our wee house to overflowing! Apologies for the blur. Too lazy to get the tripod out and no one was holding still anyway. You get the general idea anyway. Finally, we finally got Scout to pose long enough for a still shot! She graduated from obedience class last night. I think the professor passed us just to move us down the line and out of her class. Scout did really good at the 'flopping around like a fish on the end of a line' trick, the 'nose in the air, I can't hear you telling me to sit' trick, and the 'watch me do the excited pee in the middle of the floor' trick. Well, thankfully she didn't do that one in class. She reserves that specialty for our carpet.
